THE LEAGUE: SEASON TWO WEEK TEN- 12/18/2010

Posted by WrestleUTA on 8 Sep 2015

Season Two, Week Ten
Fukuoma, Japan
December 18, 2010

THE LEAGUE: WEEK TEN
As is tradition, the opening pyro starts the show, sending a sold-out crowd to their feet as they prepare for the night of action ahead. As the explosions die down, the camera cuts to the ring and our announce team.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome back for this week's edition of The League! I'm Bob Sinclair, here at ringside as always alongside Frankie Garnett, and we have a special guest this week. I’d like to welcome to the commentary table the voice of Beyond Ringside, Tori Montgomery.

Tori Montgomery: Thanks, Bob, it's a honor to be here. Not used to seeing the action this close.

Frankie Garnett: What, am I expendable now or something?

Tori Montgomery: No, Frankie, you're just the comic relief.

Frankie Garnett: That's what I...hey, wait a minute!

Bob Sinclair: Anyhow, tonight is a change of pace from the last couple of weeks, in that there are no divisional matches scheduled tonight. We've also been told that for the remainder of this season, we have a one hour overflow in case anything runs long, which given the way some of the members have gone about their business this season is a bit of a given.

Frankie Garnett: Look, Bob, enough talk, let's get to the fighting already!

Ly Quang Bao (4-5) vs. Thor Hammerskald (2-7)
Tori Montgomery: Is he always this obnoxious, Bob?

Bob Sinclair: Tori, trust me when I say that you haven't heard the worst of it yet. Let's go to Amelia Williams to get us started tonight.

Psykosonik's "Panik Kontrol" echoes throughout the arena as our next participant emerges, nearly hidden in a cloud of red smoke. As the beat continues, he sprints down the aisle, leaping onto the apron and somersaulting over the top rope, coming to a halt in the middle of the ring and looking ready to fight as the song fades.

Amelia Williams: This is our opening contest of week ten of The League, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Bien Hoa, Vietnam, weighing 177 pounds...Ly Quang Bao!

Tori Montgomery: Bob, you've reported that PGHW has offered Bao a contract; I can confirm this to be fact. There's a good chance that he could join the full-time roster after this season. We may just see him phone it in, not caring about The League any longer.

Frankie Garnett: Man, what a spoilsport.

Bob Sinclair: I'd say it's good for him, but this could wreak havoc on the end of the season. If he isn't giving his all, some of the playoff races may be skewed depending on the amount of effort he puts out.

Amon Amarth's "Death in Fire" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation as the League rookie emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Here's a guy who needs a win to get himself ready for next season.

Tori Montgomery: No kidding. I'm hoping he pulls a Phoenix more than he does a Shawn Arrows.

Frankie Garnett: "Pull a Phoenix?"

Tori Montgomery: Don't ask.

Tori Montgomery: Folks, we may have just seen the beginning of the end of Bao's League career. I'm not sure how he can recover from that.

Bob Sinclair: He'll have an extra week to do it, Tori, as the League is taking off next week for holiday observances.

Pyro explodes on the stage, causing the light to shut off as the figure finally emerges onto the stage proper. Laughing at the boos hurled in his direction, he takes his time walking to the ring and subsequently entering it for his next match.

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Tori Montgomery: I still believe that Nolan has the capability to advance into the playoffs as the sixth seed. He seems to be built for the clutch matches.

Bob Sinclair: Wins over Sean and The Phoenix, easily this season's top two, will certainly do that.

Frankie Garnett: He's the only guy to beat that fat waste this season. He gets my vote just for that!

This causes the crowd to start booing as Scorpion's old MMA theme hits the speakers, and the man in question walks to the ring wearing a gi and a towel over his head, shadow boxing and kicking the whole way.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, representing the John Creed Shadow Mixed Martial Arts Dojo, from Houston, Texas, weighing 265 pounds, he is the Delta Division leader..."The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Tori Montgomery: ...what in the heck?

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of nine minutes and forty seconds...Tarik Nolan!

Frankie Garnett: Oh, sure, Nolan, make yourself all big and bad by beating a man who is concussed and has a broken back—

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, do us all a favor and get your head out of his arse already.

Bob Sinclair: Point is, Tarik Nolan picks up a victory and is making the Gamma Division looking like The League's version of baseball's American League East! I'm beginning to agree with you, Tori, we may see both wild cards come out of that division!

Nuclear Templeton (5-4) vs. Shawn Arrows (2-7)

Frankie Garnett: Well, if people like the two of you weren't so obviously biased towards him...

Tori Montgomery: Which is made up for by you kissing his rosy red—

Bob Sinclair: Amelia, I'm begging you, get the next match started before we have a fight down here at ringside!

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Raleigh, North Carolina, weighing 212 pounds...Shawn Arrows!

Bob Sinclair: Arrows has struggled this season; his task doesn't get any easier tonight.

Tori Montgomery: I expect this to be over quick. His opponent has something to prove tonight.

Frankie Garnett: Does that mean I can go for nachos?

Bob and Tori: (in unison) No, Frankie!

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: A win here puts pressure on Maynard to win in order to keep his division lead.

Tori Montgomery: Thus, Nuclear's going to want to end this one quickly. The sooner he does, the less chance there is for error.

Frankie Garnett: Good. Though I admit that errors can be hilarious, I just want this to be over with. I'm missing Dexter right now!

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of five minutes and ten seconds...Nuclear Templeton!

Tori Montgomery: Good Lord, that didn't take long at all! Nuclear is bound and determined to reclaim his division's lead, and that's a good start in going so!

Frankie Garnett: It's Shawn Arrows, Tori. Not very impressive in my book.

Bob Sinclair: In this League, Frankie, a win is a win, no matter who it's against. I'm certain Nuclear's not going to think twice about taking it.

Tori Montgomery: He'd be a fool if he did, and I don’t think he's a fool.

Robbie Maynard (5-4) vs. Maxx Skabb (5-4)

Bob Sinclair: Well, we'll find out if he does take back the Alpha Division lead right here. This is one I've been looking forward to.

Frankie Garnett: Does it involve chairs?

Tori Montgomery: No.

Frankie Garnett: Pfft, then who cares?

Bob Sinclair: ...oy, vey.

Disturbed's "The Night" blares throughout the arena as spotlights begin to pan over the audience, as if looking for someone. A dim red light shines on the entryway, revealing a hulking figure making his way to ringside. As the refrain hits, the spotlights immediately focus on him as white strobe lights flash on the entrance stage. He slides under the bottom rope, his orange jumpsuit a stark contrast to most of the clothing in the audience as the song fades into silence.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Approaching the ring, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Bob Sinclair: Tori, does Maxx have a chance at the playoffs this year?

Tori Montgomery: As it stands, yes. A win here and he's still in contention for both the wild card and the divisional title.

Frankie Garnett: In other words, it's too early to make any predictions.

Tori Montgomery: Basically speaking, yes.

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd as one of the League's initial playoff wrestlers emerges from the stage, bathed in a blue light shining beneath him. After pausing to mentally prepare himself, he walks to the ring, his eyes never leaving the squared circle as he climbs onto the apron and ducks between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds, he is the Alpha Division leader...Robbie Maynard!

Tori Montgomery: Maynard needs this win to keep his slim advantage in the Alpha Division.

Frankie Garnett: You need to let other people talk, but you seem to not grasp that, do you?

Bob Sinclair: Tori, save your strength. He's not worth it....

Tori Montgomery: Adding injury to further injury, Skabb breaks out what looks to be a new finisher to take the victory!

Frankie Garnett: I'm still in awe from that choke backbreaker reversal. What was that move?

Bob Sinclair: Looked like a sit-out straitjacket powerbomb to me. If Maynard's back wasn't hurting before, it has to be now.

Tori Montgomery: Skabb impressed me with his resilience this week, gentlemen. If Maynard cam bounce back from this, I'm going to be very interested to see how the Alpha Division winds up.

Sean (7-2) vs. Diamond (4-5)

Frankie Garnett: You're not the only one, Tori. If Maynard even makes it to next week, I'm going to call the guy inhuman. There's no way he should even be walking right now!

Bob Sinclair: I'm not sure how the next two are going to top that, but let's find out. Amelia?

The instrumental-only version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" hits the arena to a mixed reaction as The League's lone female member emerges from backstage. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction.

Amelia Williams: This match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds...Diamond!

Tori Montgomery: I might like the girl and all, but I don't envy her task tonight.

Bob Sinclair: Facing one of the League's elite this season, that makes two of us.

Frankie Garnett: Man, do I have to agree with you two? Guess I must; she has a fight ahead of her.

Black Sabbath's classic "Iron Man" hits the arena speakers, as strobe lights begin to flash in the entryway. Fog rolls in from the entrance proper as a figure emerges, walking slowly to the ring and mentally preparing for what's ahead of him. He slides in under the bottom rope and walks over to one of the nearby turnbuckles, leaning up against them as the song fades.

Amelia Williams: Her opponent from Charlotte, North Carolina, weighing 230 pounds...Sean!

Bob Sinclair: Sean currently loses the tiebreaker to Phoenix, so he can't regain the Gamma Division lead tonight, but he can make things interesting with a win and a Phoenix loss tonight.

Frankie Garnett: You mean he WILL make things interesting, Bob.

Bob Sinclair: Sean takes home a hard-fought win tonight, as Diamond did not make it easy for him!

Tori Montgomery: Bob, Diamond had the match all but dominated. She tried for one flashy move too many, and paid for it.

Frankie Garnett: Tori, you'd know about domination, wouldn't you?

Tori Montgomery: Only if you count the fact that I'm dominating you in the League's fantasy football league this year. Why would you draft Tito Maas for a wide-out when he has no QB to throw to him?

SGRaaize (4-5) vs. Sebastian Moore (6-3)

Frankie Garnett: Look, it's not fair that you got to draft the first pick and got Franchise, who gets you points on both sides of the ball!

Bob Sinclair: Look, you two, are we going to commentate wrestling or turn this into a football show?

Tori Montgomery: Sorry, Bob. He asked for it, though!

Frankie Garnett: ...did not....

A Portugesa hits the speakers to a rousing chorus of jeers as the Tron displays the national flag of Portugal. Emerging from the entryway, he turns to salute his homeland's flag before calmly walking to the ring, ignoring the fans as he slides into the ring and bounces off the ropes a couple of times to stretch.

Amelia Williams: This match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Torres Vedras, Portugal, weighing 231 pounds...SGRaaize!

Tori Montgomery: There's a few people I've heard backstage say that they want to see Raaize move away from the Portugal Lariat and look into a different finisher, one that better fits his physical size.

Frankie Garnett: Because his lariat is so weaksauce!

Bob Sinclair: "Weaksauce?"

Frankie Garnett: Pfft, n00bs don't know anything....

It is to Muse's "Assassin" that he emerges, an arrogant smirk crossing his face as he soaks in the jeers of the crowd. Looking up at the spotlight for a moment, his smirk seems to get even bigger as he walks down the ramp, ignoring the catcalls of the crowd as he ascends the steps, wipes his feet on the apron, and steps through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Manchester, England, weighing 237 pounds, he is the Beta Division leader...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: With Skabb's win earlier tonight, Moore needs this win to maintain the status quo in the Beta Division.

Bob Sinclair: Wait, who?

Frankie Garnett: Sam Beckett. Don't tell me you never watched Quantum Leap!

Tori Montgomery: ...Bob, I'll save you the trouble. Amelia, if you please....

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway, a rain of golden sparks falling behind him as he walks to the ring with a confident look on his face. Instead of taking the steps closest to him, he walks around to the opposite side of the ring, drawing in more jeers as he finally climbs the steps and enters the ring.

Amelia Williams: This is a featured contest scheduled for one fall! Approaching the ring, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds...Johnny Triumph!

Frankie Garnett: Forget what everyone else says. I think Triumph is due tonight. The fat boy loses again!

Tori Montgomery: I'm not going to deny Triumph's skills in the ring, but with the roll that his opponent has been on, well...

Bob Sinclair: I have to agree with Tori on this one.

The opening chords of "The Instinct" hit as the entryway is bathed in a fiery orange light. Twin pillars of flame erupt from the entrance stage, one per side, as The League's largest member walks to the ring. As he approaches the steps, he pauses, bowing his head for a few seconds before taking a deep breath and releasing a shout to the skies above as he climbs onto the apron and steps between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds, he is the Gamma Division leader...this is The Phoenix!

El Demonio de Sangre (1-8) vs. Super Century (3-6)

Frankie Garnett: Just means he's going to choke it away!

Tori Montgomery: His days as King of Choke ended in 2008, Frankie. And you call yourself a journalist.

Bob Sinclair: Anyhow, it's main event time! I thought I'd never say this, but thank goodness for that. Amelia?

The beat of Danzig's "Am I Demon" hit the speakers as the lone luchador in The League emerges from backstage. His mask is obscured by the smoke billowing around him, and it is a blood-red spotlight that follows him to the ring as he hops over the top rope and waits impatiently for the carnage to begin.

Amelia Williams: This is our main event of the evening, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Tijuana, Mexico, weighing 142 pounds...he is El Demonio de Sangre!

Frankie Garnett: Whose idea was this, again?

Tori Montgomery: League management's, with a request from Phoenix to allow some newer faces the spotlight.

Frankie Garnett: Oh. No wonder this is going to suck.

Bob Sinclair: Will you stop?!

Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines on one of the turnbuckles, revealing no one there. This is repeated with all four turnbuckles, each revealing no one there. Finally, one last spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Frankie Garnett: Who is also still the undisputed king of the dorky gimmick!

Tori Montgomery: You never have any fun, do you, Frankie?

Frankie Garnett: Fun? What's that?

Bob Sinclair: That explains so much....
