THE LEAGUE: SEASON THREE, WEEK FIVE
A crowd of 16,062 greet the cameras as the show goes live, their cheers nearly drowning out the obligatory pyro that signals the show's start. As the explosions die down, the camera catches a number of signs in its view, the majority of which are showing support for SGRaaize, a mixed reaction for Sean, and quite a few linking Johnny Triumph to a now-defunct Winnipeg NHL club.

Apparently, Toronto loves hockey. Who knew?

In any event, we quickly head to ringside and our usual announce team.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the fifth week of The League! Bob Sinclair, here at ringside along with the usual suspects—Frankie Garnett and Tori Montgomery. Tonight, Nuclear Templeton looks to go to a perfect 5-0 record, Sebastian Moore looks to get his first win, and someone is going to bleed tonight!

Frankie Garnett: Frankly, I don't care who bleeds in our opening match. It would be fitting for them to bust each other open simultaneously and deny both of them the win.

Tori Montgomery: Personally, I'm looking forward to our pre-main event, with a pair of 3-1 records facing off against each other. That one is going to be one I keep an eye on.

Frankie Garnett: I'm watching all of the matches, honestly. I don't trust the referees, especially after you went perfect a couple of weeks back, Tori.

Tori Montgomery: So you're not denying that you talked to Kermit?

FIRST BLOOD MATCH: Super Century (2-2, 13%) vs. The Phoenix (1-3, 17%)
Frankie Garnett: ...Who?

Bob Sinclair: In any event, we're starting off tonight's festivities with a promise of blood to be spilled. Let's go to the resident voice of The League, Amelia Williams, to get us started tonight!

Amelia Williams: Ladies and gentlemen, the opening contest of Week Five is a First Blood match! The first participant who makes their opponent bleed wins the match!

Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines on one of the turnbuckles, revealing no one there. This is repeated with all four turnbuckles, each revealing no one there. Finally, one last spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: Introducing first, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Bob Sinclair: I'm not sure I like Century's chances in this match.

Tori Montgomery: A lot of people agree with you, Bob. Century is nearly a 7-1 underdog coming into this match.

Frankie Garnett: It would have been 10-1, but I've got a thousand on Century.

Bob Sinclair: Frankie, I thought you didn't like Super Century.

Frankie Garnett: Lesser of two evils by about a ton.

Bob Sinclair: ....

The opening chords of "The Instinct" hit as the entryway is bathed in a fiery orange light. Twin pillars of flame erupt from the entrance stage, one per side, as The League's largest member walks to the ring, a smaller figure walking beside him on his left. As he approaches the steps, he pauses, bowing his head for a few seconds before taking a deep breath and releasing a shout to the skies above. His wife reaches up and gives him a quick peck on the cheek for luck as he ducks between the ropes and finishes his stretching..

Amelia Williams: His opponent , being accompanied to the ring by Te'Snilo Bradenbury, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: One thing I'm sure that people are forgetting is the amount of punishment that Phoenix took to the head last week, courtesy of Thor Hammerskald. You know that's going to be the primary target of Century tonight.

Frankie Garnett: If Century's smart enough to realize that, anyway.

Tori Montgomery: Century's smarter than you give him credit for, Frankie. Remember that he's teaming with your buddy in three weeks.

Frankie Garnett: Guess the kid's not a total waste....

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of five minutes even...Super Century!

Tori Montgomery: Wait, so the superhero uses a closed fist to draw blood? What kind of hero is he, Batman?

Frankie Garnett: Anything to win, Tori! And that's seven grand for me!

Bob Sinclair: This has to be considered a minor upset, folks, as Century improves to 3-2 and remains in the Alpha Division hunt. As for Phoenix, who is now 1-4 after starting last season undefeated to this point, one has to wonder if it was a mistake in bringing his wife to the ring to be his manager.

Frankie Garnett: Anything he does is a mistake, Bob! That's the Second League Commandment!

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, when are you going to just stop making these commandments up?

Frankie Garnett: Who says I'm making them up?

Ian Carlisle (1-3, 15%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (4-0, 17%)
Tori Montgomery: There's no ay they're real.

Bob Sinclair: Save the argument for later, you two. Our next match is even more of a lopsided line than the first one.

Tori Montgomery: No kidding, Bob. Ian Carlisle comes in as a 13-1 underdog, while Templeton is only paying back eight cents to the dollar if those betting on him win. It's not often that such a one-sided opinion appears.

Frankie Garnett: It's so bad that I couldn't even put money on this match. The longshot is too long, and there's no return to be made on the favorite. Not worth it.

Bob Sinclair: With that, let's go to Amelia, who is already in the ring.

No music heralds the arrival of one of this season's rookies, as he makes his way to the ring without trying to let any emotions become visible on his face.

Amelia Williams: This contest is scheduled for one fall! Approaching the ring, from Blackpool, England, weighing 222 pounds...Ian Carlisle!

Bob Sinclair: Carlisle's lone win this season came at the hands of the defending League Champion. Can lightning strike twice and take down another big name?

Frankie Garnett: In a word? No.

Tori Montgomery: I hate to say it, but I'm with Frankie on this one. If Carlisle pulls out the victory I will be stunned.

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds, he is The League's lone remaining undefeated wrestler...Nuclear Templeton!

Tori Montgomery: Man, Templeton looks focused tonight, guys.

Frankie Garnett: Nuclear, just leave the chump out there and let him get counted out!

Bob Sinclair: I never thought I'd say this, but Frankie has a valid point. Templeton could get away with that, as the ref's count reaches seven. Especially after feeling the Rain of Pain and the Armageddon Lariat!

Tori Montgomery: For those of you keeping track at home, that's three finishers now that Templeton has performed on the floor outside the ring, and all were for naught.

Frankie Garnett: I'll admit, that's a bit unsettling. It's as if Templeton wants to end the match right here.

Bob Sinclair: Can you blame him/

Bob Sinclair: And the longest streak record remains intact, as Carlisle just upset the heretofore unbeaten Nuclear Templeton!

Tori Montgomery: Carlisle may want to vacate the ringside area. I think Nuclear's going to go off on the kid.

Frankie Garnett: Tori, did you have to bring up that topic already?

Thor Hammerskald (2-2, 16%) vs. Diamond (2-2, 16%)
Tori Montgomery: Which topic? I don't...oh.

Bob Sinclair: Frankie, it's a figure of speech. No need to make it taboo.

Frankie Garnett: Sure, and just ruin The League's ratings in Japan, why don't you?

Bob Sinclair: ....

Thor Hammerskald
Amon Amarth's "Death in Fire" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation as the League rookie emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face...and scattering some of the fans away from the entrance ramp as he turns to glare at them.

Amelia Williams: This contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Hammerskald's had a better start to his sophomore season, as this time last season he was only 1-3. A win here puts him one shy of matching last season's total.

Tori Montgomery: I'm not doubting he can do it, but I'm not sure if this is his night.

Frankie Garnett: Of course it's his night. Look at the size difference! This is going to be a walk in the park!

The familiar tune hits the arena to a mixed reaction as The League's lone female member emerges from backstage. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction while her manager stands outside, also applauding her client.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds...Diamond!

Tori Montgomery: Ever since picking up a new finisher, which I've been told has been renamed the 24 Carat Kiss, Diamond is undefeated in two weeks. It will be interesting to see if she can get the momentum needed to put Hammerskald down with that move.

Frankie Garnett: Again, look at the size difference! No way that's happening!

Bob Sinclair: The popular opinion disagrees, Frankie. Diamond was picked by more than three-quarters of the visitors to The League's website. A lot of people are putting faith in her finisher.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of fifteen minutes and ten seconds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Hammerskald improves to 3-2 on the season, but one has to think that there's a bit of controversy behind this match.

Tori Montgomery: Controversy? Diamond was robbed, plain and simple! Hammerskald threw her into the ref, knowing what was coming, and assuring himself that he could not be counted down for the pin when the inevitable came!

Frankie Garnett: And you call me biased....

Sean (3-1, 21%) vs. El Demonio de Sangre (1-3, 12%)
Tori Montgomery: Just zip it, Frankie.

Black Sabbath's classic "Iron Man" hits the arena speakers, as strobe lights begin to flash in the entryway. Fog rolls in from the entrance proper as a figure emerges, walking slowly to the ring and mentally preparing for what's ahead of him. He slides in under the bottom rope and walks over to one of the nearby turnbuckles, leaning up against them as the song fades.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Charlotte, North Carolina, weighing 230 pounds...Sean!

Bob Sinclair: Sean shows no signs of slowing down, looking to be an early favorite to lock up his third consecutive playoff position.

Frankie Garnett: He's still my pick to win it all.

Tori Montgomery: And what would Scott Stevens say to that?

Frankie Garnett: Erm....

The driving metal of Slayer's "Raining Blood" hit the speakers as the lone luchador in The League emerges from backstage. His mask is obscured by the smoke billowing around him, and it is a blood-red spotlight that follows him to the ring as he hops over the top rope and paces back and forth, waiting impatiently for the match to begin.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Tijuana, Mexico, weighing 142 pounds...he is El Demonio de Sangre!

Bob Sinclair: Demonio has come close to winning a few times this season, but he just can't find the missing piece of the puzzle to put his opponents away.

Tori Montgomery: He may want to take a page from Diamond's book. She got a finisher that was not based off the top rope, and look at the turnaround.

Frankie Garnett: Including getting the short end of the stick tonight.

Tori Montgomery: I can hear the smugness in your voice, Frankie. Enough.

Bob Sinclair: Once again, the rigors of the season are starting to take their toll on bodies, though thanks to the stepped-up efforts of the League's physicians the wear and tear isn't as bad as the last two seasons.

Tori Montgomery: Those guys earn their six-figure salaries, let me tell you.

Frankie Garnett: Wait, why are the doctors getting paid more than I am?

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of six and a half minutes...Sean!

Bob Sinclair: And Sean decides to not use his finisher this week; either that or Demonio landed wrong enough to have the wind driven from his body.

Tori Montgomery: I think it was the latter, Bob. Demonio still looks to be in decent shape, especially given the fact that he's kicking the ropes in frustration.

Frankie Garnett: More like he's kicking the ropes because he knows he can't kick anyone else's butt.

Maxx Skabb (2-2, 18%) vs. Sebastian Moore (0-4, 16%)
Bob Sinclair: Only you, Frankie....

Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" blares throughout the arena as spotlights begin to pan over the audience, as if looking for someone. A dim red light shines on the entryway, revealing a hulking figure making his way to ringside. As the refrain hits, the spotlights immediately focus on him as white strobe lights flash on the entrance stage. He slides under the bottom rope, his orange jumpsuit a stark contrast to most of the clothing in the audience as the song fades into silence.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Bob Sinclair: Skabb is still looking for his breakout season; after last season nothing short of a playoff run will satisfy him.

Tori Montgomery: I think that's an understatement. He was so close last season, I'm thinking that if he doesn't make it this time he's going to violate his parole.

Frankie Garnett: By doing what, Tori?

Tori Montgomery: Let's just say that you wouldn't want to be in the same room with him, Frankie. Just make sure you keep a death grip on anything you hold.

It is to Muse's "Assassin" that he emerges, an arrogant smirk crossing his face as he soaks in the jeers of the crowd. Looking up at the spotlight for a moment, his smirk seems to get even bigger as he walks down the ramp, ignoring the catcalls of the crowd as he ascends the steps, wipes his feet on the apron, and steps through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Manchester, England, weighing 237 pounds...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: I think it's safe to say that after last season, Moore is one of this season's biggest disappointments.

Frankie Garnett: Understatement much? I expected him to at least be 2-2 at this point!

Tori Montgomery: The sophomore jinx has struck and struck very hard, it seems. Maybe this is the week he turns it around.

Robbie Maynard (3-1, 11%) vs. SGRaaize (1-3, 23%)
Bob Sinclair: Like he's not serious any other time?

Tori Montgomery: Good point.

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd as one of the League's initial playoff wrestlers emerges from the stage, bathed in a blue light shining beneath him. After pausing to mentally prepare himself, he walks to the ring, his eyes never leaving the squared circle as he climbs onto the apron and ducks between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: This match is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds...Robbie Maynard!

Bob Sinclair: Tori, you've said from the outset that this is your pick for the season. Why did you pick him?

Tori Montgomery: I thought he was due. He put in a lot of effort in the off-season, and I thought he looked ready to make a deep run this season.

Frankie Garnett: Are you sure it didn't involve a few portraits of Ben Franklin passed around?

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, unless you want to get your butt kicked by a woman, I suggest you shut up right now.

A Portugesa hits the speakers to a rousing chorus of jeers as the Tron displays the national flag of Portugal. Emerging from the entryway, he turns to salute his homeland's flag before calmly walking to the ring, ignoring the fans as he slides into the ring and bounces off the ropes a couple of times to stretch.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Torres Vedras, Portugal, weighing 231 pounds...SGRaaize!

Bob Sinclair: Raaize has yet to find that one big push to break into the upper echelon of The League; a win here would certainly help him in that regard.

Frankie Garnett: Or it will just be a fluke and he'll fade into obscurity, one of the two.

Johnny Triumph (3-1, 21%) vs. Ezekial Kerghan (3-1, 15%)
Bob Sinclair: And coming up is the match you were looking forward to, Tori.

Tori Montgomery: This is a match-up of two of the higher-ranked wrestlers so far this season. The Alpha Division leader and the second-place wrestler in the Beta Division. I so cannot wait for this to get started.

Frankie Garnett: Amelia, let's get this started so she will calm down.

Tori Montgomery: Hey!

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway, a rain of golden sparks falling behind him as he walks to the ring with a confident look on his face and the League Championship belt draped over his right shoulder. Instead of taking the steps closest to him, he walks around to the opposite side of the ring, drawing in more jeers as he finally climbs the steps and enters the ring.

Amelia Williams: This contest is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds, he is the reigning League Champion...Johnny Triumph!

Bob Sinclair: Triumph has wasted little time, racing out to a 3-1 record and setting the pace in the Alpha Division this season.

Tori Montgomery: I can see him and Maynard in the finals this season, and it would be glorious!

Frankie Garnett: Tori, spare us your fanfiction. We came to watch a match, not listen to your fantasy booking.

Tori Montgomery: .....

Escape the Fate's "This War is Ours" hits the arena speakers as The League's newest resident psychopath emerges and heads towards the ring, looking like he's having an argument with voices only he can hear.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from The Dog Pound, weighing 251 pounds...Ezekial Kerghan!

Bob Sinclair: Kerghan has quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with in his rookie season.

Tarik Nolan (1-3, 20%) vs. Scott Stevens (3-1, 18%)
Bob Sinclair: And with that, it's main event time. Amelia?

"Regulate" hits the speakers, immediately drawing the ire of the crowd as a large figure stands in the entryway, backlit by a clear spotlight. Pyro explodes on the stage, causing the light to shut off as the figure finally emerges onto the stage proper. Laughing at the boos hurled in his direction, he takes his time walking to the ring and subsequently entering it for his next match.

Amelia Williams: This is our main event of the evening, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Bob Sinclair: Nolan, after an impressive 10-4 run last season, has struggled to get out of the gate this season.

Frankie Garnett: I keep telling you, that whole division was juiced last season!

Tori Montgomery: And Sean?

Frankie Garnett: Sean doesn't count, he's naturally gifted like that!

Bob Sinclair: ...

The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" Over the audio system a snippet of Dave Mustaine from the song "Scorpion" yells, "I am the Scorpion whoah!!!" This causes the crowd to start booing as a mash up of "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack and "Amazing" by Kanye West hits the speakers. Out from the back emerges "The Venomous One" wearing a replica of The League's World Championship around his waist and the man in question walks to the ring, talking trash the whole way while showing off his title belt.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Houston, Texas, weighing 265 pounds...He is "The League's Real World's Heavyweight Champion"... "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Tori Montgomery: I guess he didn't learn his lesson last week. He's still going to try to play up the "dethroned champion" gimmick?
