Cheyenne, Wyoming

THE LEAGUE PRESENTS: TAG TEAM TURMOIL, SEASON THREE

The surreal setting of The League's Virtual Arena set-up welcomes the cameras as thirty-three video walls and a live crowd of five thousand stand in attendance for The League's second tag team tournament. Due to all of the electronics in the arena, there is no pyro to signify the start of this pay-per-view extravaganza. After a few moments to let the scene settle in, the camera shifts to ringside and our three-person announce team.

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to Tag Team Turmoil! I'm Bob Sinclair, sitting at ringside with Frankie Garnett and Tori Montgomery, and tonight is the one night a season we turn away from singles action and focus on tag team wrestling.

Frankie Garnett: And with the majority of the people in the back having chosen their own partners, it's going to be interesting to see who gets fed to the teams that Triumph and Stevens are on before they face each other in the semifinals!

Tori Montgomery: Well, in any event there's one team who has returned in full this season, and they're in the first match of the night. Experience-wise, they're the favorites, but you can't discount Super Century, who is the only member of last season's winning team still in The League.

Bob Sinclair: In a change from last season, every match in this tournament will be contested under standard "best of three falls" rules, instead of only the finals.

Team LARIATO (Nuclear Templeton & SGRaaize) vs. El Demonio de Sangre & Robbie Maynard
Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as the two men with the most lethal arms in The League walk to the ring. Rolling under the ropes, they head to opposite corners and pose for the crowd, sending them into cheers/

Amelia Williams: This is a quarterfinal contest in Tag Team Turmoil! Introducing first, at a combined weight of 509 pounds...Nuclear Templeton and SGRaaize...Team LARIATO!

Bob Sinclair: Last season, Templeton and Raaize got to the semi-finals before falling to eventual winners Shawn Arrows and Super Century.

Frankie Garnett: Keep in mind that they defeated the team of Tarik Nolan and last season's champion, Johnny Triumph, in their opening match.

Tori Montgomery: These two have proven that as a unit, they can pull off upsets. Anything short of a final round berth this season would be a disappointment to them.

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a decidedly negative reaction from the crowd as the opponents emerge bathed in a blood-red light, looking focused as they head to the ring.

Amelia Williams: Their opponents, at a combined weight of 393 pounds...Robbie Maynard and El Demonio de Sangre!

Bob Sinclair: Last season, both of these men were bounced in the first round—Demonio by the eventual winners, and Maynard by The Phoenix and his partner.

Frankie Garnett: What was his name again?

Tori Montgomery: We're not allowed to say, Frankie. Orders from The Boss.

Frankie Garnett: Damn....

Tori Montgomery: We'll find out their opponents right now, as we move right along.

Tarik Nolan & The Phoenix v Ezekial Kerghan & Diamond
The opening chords of "The Instinct" hit as the entryway is bathed in a fiery orange light. Emerging from the back are three figures, the middle one dwarfed by the two men flanking her. As the trio hits the ring, the woman turns to kiss the cheek of the man to her right as his tag partner rolls into the ring and begins warming up.

Amelia Williams: This is our second quarterfinal match of the evening! Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Te'Snilo Bradenbury, at a combined weight of 629 pounds...Tarik Nolan and The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: Given how the Gamma Division ended last year, I'm intrigued to see how well these two fare as a team.

Frankie Garnett: That was last season; both of these guys are mediocre at best this season. This is going to be quick.

Tori Montgomery: I wouldn't write either man off—remember who Phoenix carried to the semifinals last year. As for Nolan, you know he's going to want a win so he can get a second shot at Team LARIATO.

Escape the Fate's "This War is Ours" hits the arena speakers as another set of three figures emerges from backstage, the masked behemoth in the middle a stark contrast to the two women flanking him. One of the women jumps onto the apron from the floor and ducks between the ropes while the man stomps his way up the steps, looking ready to cause some destruction.

Amelia Williams: Their opponents, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, at a combined weight of 388 pounds...Ezekial Kerghan and Diamond!

Frankie Garnett: Tori, maybe you can answer this for me. What does Diamond see in teaming with the psychopaths of the League?

Tori Montgomery: How about asking her?

Frankie Garnett: The restraining order says I can't..

Tori Montgomery: It was an April Fool's Day joke, Frankie. Good grief!

Bob Sinclair: Diamond was a finalist in last season's tournament losing in the finals to Arrows and Century. Diamond and Skabb did defeat Phoenix and his partner in last season's semifinals, so there is a bit of history to work from here.

The Century of the Scorpion vs. Sebastian Moore & Sean
Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. The sound of lightning is heard throughout the arena, and a voice thunders through the PA system, "In an age desperate for a hero, comes a man...strong, lightning fast, and unyielding in his fight for good." A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: Introducing first from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

All of a sudden we hear, "Na, na, na, come on" as Rihanna's "S&M" echoes throughout the arena and Super Century climbs the turnbuckle and begins to clap with the beat of the song as the crowd follows suit. Our superhero looks down the ramp awaiting his partner. A few seconds pass and Super Century darts out of the ring and up the ramp towards the stage. When the superhero returns we see he is dragging "The Venomous One," decked out in superhero garb, to the ring and arguing the whole way.

Amelia Williams: And his partner, from the Planet Arachnoid, weighing 265 pounds...He is "The Universal Heavyweight Champion"... "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Bob Sinclair: What in the world...

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, has Stevens shown any sign of mental instability or post-concussion syndrome this season?

Frankie Garnett: No...I'm truly at a loss here.

Black Sabbath's classic "Iron Man" hits the arena speakers, as strobe lights begin to flash in the entryway. Fog rolls in from the entrance proper as two figures emerge, walking slowly to the ring and mentally preparing for what's ahead of them. They slide in under the bottom rope and walk over to one of the nearby turnbuckles, leaning up against the adjoining ropes as the song fades.

Amelia Williams: Their opponents, At a combined weight of 467 pounds...Sean and Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: Neither of these men made it out of the first round last season, and remember that Sean and Stevens teamed up last season. This could be interesting.

Tori Montgomery: I'd hate to be around Stevens when he gets his wits about him. I'd definitely not want to be Super Century in that case.

Johnny Triumph & Ian Carlisle vs. Norse Code (Thor Hammerskald & Maxx Skabb)
A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as the team emerges from the back and makes their way to the ring. The one carrying a belt over his shoulder seems calm and relaxed, while his partner is trying to make sense of the layout of the arena.

Amelia Williams: This is the last quarterfinal match of the evening! Introducing first, at a combined weight of 450 pounds...Ian Carlisle and the reigning League Champion, Johnny Triumph!

Bob Sinclair: Triumph didn't even get out of the first round of this event last year, so he's going to be determined that much more here.

Tori Montgomery: No one has yet to "do the double" in the League, and Triumph is looking to be the first.

Frankie Garnett: "Do the double?" What is this, the Premier League of English Football?

What sounds to be an epic variation of a Viking Battle March hits the speakers as the final two participants in this round emerge, both dressed to the nines in Viking gear...complete with battleaxes, which causes more than a few faint-hearted fans to scurry away from the railing just to be on the safe side. Thankfully, the weapons are dropped to the floor before the two get into the ring.

Amelia Williams: Their opponents, at a combined weight of 599 pounds, the team of Thor Hammerskald and Maxx Skabb...Norse Code!

Bob Sinclair: Skabb was Diamond's partner in the finals last season, while Hammerskald could not escape the opening round, losing to the eventual champions of this event.

Semifinal: Sebastian Moore & Sean vs. Ian Carlisle & Johnny Triumph

Amelia Williams: This is the second semifinal match of the tournament! Introducing first, at a combined weight of 467 pounds...Sean and Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: One would almost have to think that these two men are the underdogs coming into this match.

Tori Montgomery: Without a doubt. They've got a tough task ahead of them here, and should they pull this one off they have the most popular team remaining in the tournament waiting in the finals.

Frankie Garnett: You expect them to get past the reigning champion? Get a clue!

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as the team emerges from the back and makes their way to the ring. The one carrying a belt over his shoulder seems calm and relaxed, while his partner watches their opponents carefully.

As Carlisle and Triumph celebrate in the ring, their opponents for the finals emerge on the ramp and walk down to the ring. There is some tension in the ring as the four men stare each other down.

Tori Montgomery: I know Triumph's the champ and all, but the edge for me goes to Nolan and Phoenix. They're the more popular pairing, and despite the near-hour-long epic not too long ago, I think they're rested enough to pull out the win.

Frankie Garnett: And once again, Tori, you fail miserably. It's real simple. Triumph is the champ. Until someone beats him here, he's the odds-on favorite for anything League related.
