THE LEAGUE: SEASON FOUR, WEEK ONE

In a change of pace, it is to Muse's "Uprising" that The League returns to the airwaves, signifying the start of another four months of action. The requisite pyro goes off, sending the crowd into a frenzy as Central Europe finally gets their chance to host The League. As the camera pans the crowd, many of them garbed in the colors of Germany to support one of the debuting rookies tonight, we head to ringside and the usual gang of suspects.

Bob Sinclair: Hello, everyone, and welcome back to The League for the start of our fourth season! For those of you joining us for the first time, I'm Bob Sinclair, and joining me at ringside are two of the top color commentators in the game today, Frankie Garnett and our resident web-mistress, Tori Montgomery.

Frankie Garnett: The rumors about my firing are greatly exaggerated, folks! I'm still here!

Bob Sinclair: I thought the person who leaked the schedule was fired, Tori.

Tori Montgomery: He was.

Bob Sinclair: But...Frankie's still here?

Tori Montgomery: Wasn't him. Guy by the name of Frances Garrett did it.

Frankie Garnett: But if I can be serious for a moment...

Tori Montgomery: Fat chance of that happening...

Frankie Garnett: ...Josh, buddy, do me a solid and don't bring my name up anymore, all right? My lawyers would like to get at least one night's worth of sleep this month.

Bob Sinclair: In any event, tonight marks the start of a new season, with thirteen returning veterans joined by seven rookies to make this the largest field in League history. Five divisional races are on the books, and every division is represented tonight by a match.

Tori Montgomery: Besides the playoffs, this is the most exciting time of the season for me. Let's get this thing started and head to the in-ring voice of The League, Amelia Williams, to get us underway!

RED DIVISION: Scott Stevens (0-0, 10%) vs. Maxx Skabb (0-0, 9%)

The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" The crowd starts booing as "End of Days" by Emphatic hits the speakers, and the man in question appears from the back and stops on the stage. As "The Venomous One" stares down his opponent with an icy glare he points to them, then he makes the throat slash gesture to them before he begins walking to the ring, being pelted by trash the whole way.

Amelia Williams: The opening bout of Season Four is a Red Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Houston, Texas, weighing 265 pounds... "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Tori Montgomery: I, for one, will be interested to see just how much he's recovered since he got what was coming to him two weeks ago, during the Season Three playoffs.

Frankie Garnett: "What was coming to him?" He was attacked from behind by someone who should be in jail right now!

Bob Sinclair: Nonetheless, Stevens looks to be a bit less stable than normal; we'll find out just how far gone he is.

Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" blares throughout the arena as spotlights begin to pan over the audience, as if looking for someone. A dim red light shines on the entryway, revealing a hulking figure making his way to ringside, with two more men hiding just at the fringes of the spotlight, their eyes never leaving the form of the big man. As the refrain hits, the spotlights immediately focus on him as white strobe lights flash on the entrance stage. He slides under the bottom rope, his orange jumpsuit a stark contrast to most of the clothing in the audience as the song fades into silence.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds...Maxx Skabb!

Bob Sinclair: Did I just see two other men up there?

Tori Montgomery: You did, Bob. Due to being seen as an imminent threat to innocents, Skabb's been ordered to be accompanied to and from the ringside area by a pair of armed guards. They will not play a factor in his in-ring abilities.

Frankie Garnett: Unless they "accidentally" mace him or something. You know, stuff like that.

Bob Sinclair: Stevens looked like he just wasn't fully prepared for the match this week; could he still be feeling the lingering effects of the attack he suffered during last season's playoffs?

Frankie Garnett: You mean that cowardly sneak attack that Phoenix should be fired for?

Tori Montgomery: It's karma, Frankie. He had it coming!

Frankie Garnett: And I'll watch with glee as he comes after you, Tori!

Tori Montgomery: He's welcome to try. But he should know that I'm never without protection.

Ian Carlisle (0-0, 14%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (0-0, 9%)

"Not a Stranger to the Danger" blares through the arena as one of last season's rookies steps into the arena, a look of determination on his face. A moment later, he sprints towards the ring, sliding in under the bottom rope and heading to a corner to appeal to the fans.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Blackpool, England, weighing 222 pounds...Ian Carlisle!

Bob Sinclair: Carlisle had a less than stellar rookie season, putting up a 6-8 record in his first try. There's no doubt in my mind that anything below 8 wins will be a disappointment for him.

Frankie Garnett: Any of these people should be disappointed if they don't win the League Championship, Bob. This is not Little League for crying out loud!

Tori Montgomery: Everyone has to start somewhere, Frankie.

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: The runner-up in last season's standings, Templeton entered the playoffs with the best record, and came within one fall of taking home the title.

Frankie Garnett: Sean. He did it last season, after all!

Tori Montgomery: A valid point, and they face each other twice this season. I will be looking forward to it!

Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr. (0-0, 12%) vs. Johnny Triumph (0-0, 15%)

"Here Comes the Money" hits the speakers, as one of this season's rookies emerges from the back, with a beautiful woman hanging off his left arm. He pays no attention to the jeering fans, his attitude simply screaming "I'm better than you" as the woman looks at him adoringly.

Amelia Williams: Our next but is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Missy Callistra, from New Haven, Connecticut, weighing 224 pounds...Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr.!

Frankie Garnett: Hello, who is that??

Tori Montgomery: That's Ben Stanton, who apparently has learned the wrestling craft from—

Frankie Garnett: Not him, Tori! I mean the eye candy accompanying him!

Bob Sinclair: That'd be Stanton's girlfriend, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: Hmph. Figures.

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway. Instead of taking the steps closest to him, he walks around to the opposite side of the ring, drawing in more jeers as he finally climbs the steps and enters the ring.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Des Moines, Iowa, weighing 228 pounds, he is a former League Champion...Johnny Triumph!

Frankie Garnett: Triumph almost looks naked without the League Championship draped over his shoulder.

Tori Montgomery: After a dismal showing last season, Frankie, you can be sure that he will be doing everything he can to make it back to the playoffs.

Frankie Garnett: As if there was any doubt?

GREEN DIVISION: Master Imoka (0-0, 18%) vs. Jack Lightning (0-0, 10%)

Tori Montgomery: Frankie, why are you so irritable tonight?

Frankie Garnett: I don’t have to explain myself to you!

Bob Sinclair: ...Let's just go to the next match.

[i]Slayer's "Angel of Death" blasts from the arena speakers as one of this season's rookies emerges from the back, staring a hole through the ring as if by doing so, he can change it to his preferred medium of a martial arts mat. As he gets to ringside, he quickly lashes out and kicks the top half of the steel steps off the bottom half, snarling as he slides into the ring and stands motionless, waiting for the bell to sound.

Amelia Williams: This is a Green Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from the Isle of Samoa, weighing 214 pounds...Master Imoka!

Bob Sinclair: Imoka's already made headlines, foregoing the Rookie Showcase a week ago; this will be the first time we've seen him in action.

Frankie Garnett: The guy looks like he could spit nails at you, that's for sure.

Tori Montgomery: Imoka claims that his martial arts skills are superior to what anyone in The League brings to the ring; we're going to find out.

Linkin Park's "New Divide" hits the speakers as the first Canadian to enter The League emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease as he steps onto the ring apron and leaps over the top rope. Climbing onto the turnbuckles, he raises an arm in the air and drinks in the cheers of the crowd before dropping back to the mat and preparing for his match.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from London, Ontario, weighing 233 pounds...Jack Lightning!

Ezekial Kerghan (0-0, 14%) vs. Sean (0-0, 15%)

Escape the Fate's "This War is Ours" hits the arena speakers as The League's newest resident psychopath emerges and heads towards the ring, looking like he's having an argument with voices only he can hear.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from The Dog Pound, weighing 251 pounds...Ezekial Kerghan!

Tori Montgomery: I tried to talk with Kerghan before the show, but got no answers from him as he shoved me out of his locker room, saying something to the effect of "The Colonel can't come here; they won't let him."

Bob Sinclair: Sounds like a reference to Thor Hammerskald's new manager.

Frankie Garnett: But no one has confirmed that yet, for crying out loud!

[i]Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" hits the arena speakers as a spotlight shines down on the top of the ramp. Emerging from the back, the reigning League Champion emerges, gold belt gleaming in the spotlight as he throws a hand into the air, causing pyro to erupt from behind him in a manner of paparazzi photographing him. With a smirk, the champ slings the title belt over his shoulder and heads to the ring, the spotlight remaining on him the whole time.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, now residing in Los Angeles, California, weighing 230 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Sean!

Hearing this, the champ walks over and leans into Amelia's personal space.

Sean: That's "Hollywood Sean" to you, baby.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of fourteen minutes even...Sean!

Bob Sinclair: And Sean starts his defense of the League Championship with a solid win here.

Tori Montgomery: We'll find out in the coming weeks, Frankie!

BLUE DIVISION: Dante Lorenzo (0-0, 21%) vs. Diamond (0-0, 9%)

Three Days Grace's "Riot" hits the speakers to a chorus of jeers as the first Italian-born member of The League emerges from the back, ignoring the crowd in the arena as he mentally prepares for his upcoming match. Reaching the ring, he climbs up the steps and enters between the ropes, his face never losing a look of confident indifference.

Amelia Williams: This is a Blue Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Florence, Italy, weighing 291 pounds...Dante Lorenzo!

Bob Sinclair: This...isn't what I expected to hear.

Frankie Garnett: Lemme guess, you were thinking "Carmen?"

Bob Sinclair: Or some other opera, yes.

Frankie Garnett: And y'all call me insensitive.

Tori Montgomery: ....

"Don't Cha" hits the arena to a mixed reaction as The League's lone female member emerges from backstage. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction while her manager stands outside, also applauding her client.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: Nice to see Jayde up and moving around after that assault she suffered two weeks ago during the Season Three playoffs.

Tori Montgomery: Diamond and Jayde have both told me that they are looking forward to the Diamond/Stevens match this season, and likely with good reason.

Frankie Garnett: Oh, can we stop the sob stories yet? So Jayde got attacked...deal with it!

Tori Montgomery: After that showing, Frankie, you may be right.

RED DIVISION: Pizza Mask III (0-0, 16%) vs. The Phoenix (0-0, 15%)

Frankie Garnett: I can tell you one person who won’t be making the playoffs, and it's the fat guy in this match.

Tori Montgomery: You say that every season, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: And I've been right!

Bob Sinclair: Except for season two, when he was the top seed in the playoffs...

Frankie Garnett: That doesn't count!

The theme to Samurai Pizza Cats, of all things, hits as Pizza Mask comes out on a scooter, with a pizza box strapped to the back, wearing a helmet with his pizza-design mask, black polo shirt and khaki pants, hopping off the scooter and unstrapping the pizza box, holding it up to the screen to show that it reads "Pain Pizza! Now With 100% Real Cheese!" before he heads to the ring.

Amelia Williams: This is a Red Division match, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Your Friendly Neighborhood Pizzeria, weighing 199 pounds...Pizza Mask III!

Frankie Garnett: I still cannot believe this to be an actual person.

Bob Sinclair: It's an entertaining character, I'll give the man credit for that.

Tori Montgomery: He's going to have his hands full tonight, though.

[i]Bon Jovi's "Blaze of Glory" hits the arena speakers as one of the original members of The League comes out, his wife in tow. He has a deadly serious look on his face as he shadowboxes on his way to the ring. As they reach ringside, she reaches up to give him a kiss on the cheek and gives him a slight shove towards the squared circle. He dives in under the bottom rope, coming to his feet with a war cry towards the heavens as he shifts his focus to the ring.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Te'Snilo Bradenbury, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: Is it just me, Tori, or does he have a more determined look on his face?

Tori Montgomery: It's not you, Bob. I went to his residence last week, and he seemed to be focused on a completely different level. The man was carrying around stones half his weight in hundred-degree heat, for crying out loud!

Frankie Garnett: That settles it. He's nuts.

Frankie Garnett: I don't. It'll be simple—fat boy gonna get got!

Tori Montgomery: Since when do you speak jive, Frankie?

Frankie Garnett: ...shut up!

YELLOW DIVISION: Rannulf von Krüshengburg (0-0, 27%) vs. Tarik Nolan (0-0, 15%)

The opening to Rammstein's "Mein Teil" hits the speakers as the largest member of The League emerges, causing everyone with something that could even remotely be considered food to get away from the entranceway as quickly as possible for fear of losing their food...and at least a body part or two.

Amelia Williams: This is a Yellow Division contest, scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from der Schwarzwald, Deutschland, weighing 200 kilograms..."Der Panzer" Rannulf von Krüshengberg!

Frankie Garnett: Wait, how much is that?

Tori Montgomery: 441 pounds, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: And you knew that off the top of your head?

Tori Montgomery: No. But I did research. You know, that thing you never do?

Bob Sinclair: Lady's got a point on you there, Frankie.

Frankie Garnett: ....

"Regulate" hits the speakers, immediately drawing the ire of the crowd as a large figure stands in the entryway, backlit by a clear spotlight. Pyro explodes on the stage, causing the light to shut off as the figure finally emerges onto the stage proper. Laughing at the boos hurled in his direction, he takes his time walking to the ring and subsequently entering it for his next match.

Amelia Williams: His opponent from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

Bob Sinclair: Nolan's sole highlight last season was a victory in Tag Team Turmoil with The Phoenix, a far cry from his 10-4 campaign two seasons ago.

Frankie Garnett: You know you're in the pits when you have to associate yourself with that fat lump.

Tori Montgomery: The two of them worked well as a team last season, Frankie. If they join up again, I wouldn't rule out a repeat performance.

Tori Montgomery: Where are you going?

Frankie Garnett: Well, someone has to go find out who Thor Hammerskald's new manager is. I don't see either of you two rushing to find out, so I'll go do it!

Bob Sinclair: But you have a job here to do!

Frankie says nothing as he drops his headset and heads towards the locker room.

Tori Montgomery: Well, this is going to end horribly, mark my words.

Bob Sinclair: I'm inclined to agree with you, Tori....

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd as one of the League's initial playoff wrestlers emerges from the stage, bathed in a blue light shining beneath him. After pausing to mentally prepare himself, he walks to the ring, his eyes never leaving the squared circle as he climbs onto the apron and ducks between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: This bout is scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds...Robbie Maynard!

Bob Sinclair: Maynard's been hit and miss in his League career, with two quick exits from the playoffs in three tries.

Tori Montgomery: He was my pick last season to go all the way; I'm not sure how he will fare this season but it will be interesting to find out!

Disturbed's "Indestructible" hits the arena as one of this season's rookies emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease despite the hard beat of the song. Jumping onto the apron from the floor, he steps between the ropes and calmly waits for the bell to get the match underway.

Amelia Williams: (opening), from an undisclosed location, weighing 205 pounds...Eidenhoek Gaiaspade!

Bob Sinclair: How is that entrance monk-like?

Tori Montgomery: Dammit, Frankie needs to get back here.

BACKSTAGE...

Thor Hammerskald emerges from his locker room, heading towards the entrance with no one else in tow. Looking above the camera, he nods and smiles as the camera cuts back to ringside.

Tori Montgomery: ...what in the heck was that?

Bob Sinclair: I'm as stumped as you are, Tori. There's still no indication on who Thor's new manager is; I guess we're all going to find out together. And where is Frankie, anyway?!

BLACK DIVISION FIRST BLOOD MATCH: Thor Hammerskald (0-0, 29%) vs. SGRaaize (0-0, 21%)

Amon Amarth's "Death in Fire" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation he emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face...and scattering some of the fans away from the entrance ramp as he turns to glare at them. Stopping, he turns and motions to the back for his manager...and the crowd erupts in jeers as said manager finally emerges from the back.

Bob Sinclair: What the hell?

Tori Montgomery: Not only no, but hell no! How did he get that position?!

Amelia Williams: This is a First Blood contest in the Black Division! Introducing first, being accompanied to the ring by Frankie Garnett, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: I thought it was The Colonel who was supposed to be the new manager! What the hell is Frankie doing out there??

Tori Montgomery: The only excuse I can think of is to repay his gambling debts, Bob. But how in the heck did he manage to hide it from us?!

A Portugesa hits the speakers to a rousing chorus of jeers as the Tron displays the national flag of Portugal. Emerging from the entryway, he turns to salute his homeland's flag before calmly walking to the ring, ignoring the fans as he slides into the ring and bounces off the ropes a couple of times to stretch.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Torres Vedras, Portugal, weighing 231 pounds...SGRaaize!

Bob Sinclair: This will be the first time in three seasons that Raaize will not be in the same division as Templeton; it'll be interesting to see how the Portuguese native fares in an obviously stacked division.

Tori Montgomery: I think he'll be lucky to go 7-7, Bob. The Black Division is going to be brutal.
