THE LEAGUE: SEASON FIVE, WEEK NINE

Opening sequences? Who needs them? Especially with an action-packed card like the one lined up tonight, plus all of the backstage action leading into Tag Team Turmoil....

OMEGA DIVISION: Master Imoka (5-3, 13%) vs. Rannulf von Krüshengberg (2-6, 10%)

The opening to Rammstein's "Mein Teil" hits the speakers as the largest member of The League emerges, causing everyone with something that could even remotely be considered food to get away from the entranceway as quickly as possible for fear of losing their food...and at least a body part or two.

Amelia Williams: Our opening contest of the night is scheduled for one fall in the Omega Division! Introducing first, from der Schwarzwald, Deutschland, weighing 421 pounds..."Der Panzer" Rannulf von Krüshengberg!

Bob Sinclair: Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the last week of action before Tag Team Turmoil! We've got a full card prepared for you tonight!

Tori Montgomery: And we're starting with one half of The League's largest tag team, the Axis of Flavor and in desperate need of a win to keep his season in check.

Frankie Garnett: If there's any week where Rannulf can sneak a win, this would be it.

"You're the Best" blasts from the arena speakers as The League's lone Samoan emerges from the back, staring a hole through the ring as if by doing so, he can change it to his preferred medium of a martial arts mat. As he gets to ringside, he quickly lashes out and kicks the top half of the steel steps off the bottom half, snarling as he slides into the ring and stands motionless, waiting for the bell to sound.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Isle of Samoa, weighing 214 pounds...Master Imoka!

Bob Sinclair: Imoka is not known for his tolerance in tag team action, and a unique pairing finds him teaming with Super Century next week.

Frankie Garnett: Why would anyone team with that goof Century?

Tori Montgomery: Remember, Frankie, Century is a former TTT champion. There is potential in that team, I can see it!

Frankie Garnett: Please, we all know Imoka gives zero regard to TTT. He wants to win, plain and simple!

OMEGA DIVISION: Ian Carlisle (2-6, 19%) vs. Robbie Maynard (6-2, 9%)

Linkin Park's "What I've Done" blares through the arena as one of the League's youngest members steps into the arena. A moment later, he sprints towards the ring, sliding in under the bottom rope and heading to a corner to appeal to the fans.

Amelia Williams: This is an Omega Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Blackpool, England, weighing 222 pounds...Ian Carlisle!

Bob Sinclair: Carlisle will be teaming with Ben Stanton next week, though people seem to be already counting them out as legit contenders for the tournament.

Frankie Garnett: And can you blame them? The two of them combined have fewer wins than their division's leader!

Tori Montgomery: Stranger things have happened, Frankie. You should know that by now.

The opening riffs of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" hits the speakers, drawing a mixed reaction from the crowd as last season's champion emerges from the stage, bathed in a blue light shining beneath him. After pausing to mentally prepare himself, he walks to the ring, belt slung over his right shoulder and his eyes never leaving the squared circle as he climbs onto the apron and ducks between the ropes.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Liverpool, England, weighing 251 pounds, he is the reigning and defending League Champion...Robbie Maynard!

Bob Sinclair: Maynard has yet to declare a partner for the tournament next week.

Tori Montgomery: The fates of those people without partners will be decided by the end of the show, Bob, as Commissioner Colt Marshall will draw teams at random as well as announce the brackets for the show.

Bob Sinclair: And Maynard finally puts away the resilient Ian Carlisle!

Tori Montgomery: You have to wonder just how much this took out of Carlisle, and whether he will be in any condition for next week, guys.

Frankie Garnett: No chance. They're going to get stomped, mark my words.

OMEGA DIVISION: Super Century (5-3, 13%) vs. Dante Lorenzo (4-4, 16%)

Without warning, all of the lights go off in the arena, casting everything into pitch blackness. A few seconds pass before a spotlight shines on one of the turnbuckles, revealing no one there. This is repeated with all four corners, each revealing no one there. Finally, one last spotlight shines down onto the middle of the ring, which reveals the caped form of The League's resident superhero, who stands with arms folded and staring intently into the audience.

Amelia Williams: The following contest is scheduled for one fall in the Omega Division. Introducing first, from the Halls of Justice, weighing 205 pounds...Super Century!

Bob Sinclair: As we established earlier, Century will be teaming with Imoka. A win for Century would give both members of that team a great deal of momentum heading into the tag tournament next week.

Frankie Garnett: Century may be having a good season, but reality is about to come crashing in, Bob!

Tori Montgomery: Century has been overachieving this season, and a win here would put him right in the thick of the Omega Division hunt as we reach the halfway point!

Three Days Grace's "Riot" hits the speakers to a chorus of jeers as the first Italian-born member of The League emerges from the back, ignoring the crowd in the arena as he mentally prepares for his upcoming match. Reaching the ring, he climbs up the steps and enters between the ropes, his face never losing a look of confident indifference.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from Florence, Italy, weighing 291 pounds...Dante Lorenzo!

Bob Sinclair: Dante is the other half of the Axis of Flavor, and is looking for a win to give his team some momentum for next week.

Tori Montgomery: Not to mention a win keeping him firmly entrenched in the playoff hunt for his division.

Frankie Garnett: I'm beginning to think he would be better ditching the albatross that his partner has become, but that's just me.

Amelia Williams: Here is your winner, at a time of twenty-three minutes even...Super Century!

Bob Sinclair: Century with another huge win, and he could be a real dark horse entering the second half of the season!

Tori Montgomery: At 6-3, he's already done better than either of his past two seasons, and finds himself near the top of the standings!

Frankie Garnett: Give me a break. I'm going back to get Thor ready, I can't stand any more of this goofball.

Bob Sinclair: And you're about to leave too, right?

Tori Montgomery: Yep. Phoenix's match is next.

The Decision

Cut to backstage, where Phoenix is on his way to the ring. His face shows no emotion, as is the norm heading into the final moments before he emerges into the arena.

Male Voice: Hey, Phoenix!

The big man turns to see Pizza Mask III walking towards him, wearing a "Bird Eye for the Pizza Guy" shirt and hat...the latter of which looks a bit out of place given the mask.

Pizza Mask III: I was hoping to find you before you went out there. Have you made a decision about next week?

The big man sighs at this question. Obviously he was hoping to field this after his match tonight.

The Phoenix: I have. It took me a few weeks to figure things out, but I think I have a decision.

Pizza Mask III: Well?

The Phoenix: ...I'm sorry. I appreciate you asking, but in the end I'm not sure if my style of wrestling would go well with yours. I'm looking for more of a hard hitter to complement my technical style, to make it easier to double-team. I'm afraid I'm going to have to decline your offer, man, and team up with Nuclear. I was going to tell him after my match, but I guess now he'll have heard. Again, I'm sorry.

In the distance, a stagehand calls for Phoenix to get into position, and the big man scurries off-screen to get ready. The camera remains on PM3 for a few moments more.

Pizza Mask III: But...what am I going to do with twenty thousand of these shirts...?

Bob Sinclair: Not the result Pizza Mask was hoping for.

Tori Montgomery: I can understand where Phoenix is coming from, though. Still doesn't make it any easier to do what he just had to do.

ALPHA DIVISION: Diamond (5-3, 18%) vs. The Phoenix (6-2, 14%)

Within Temptation's "Stand My Ground" hits the arena speakers as a League Original emerges from the back, through a wall of flame pyro. His face gives no emotions away as he walks to the ring, shadowboxing as he stops at the ring steps. A moment later, he slams both fists into the top step before looking up the heavens with a cry of "For the Fallen" coming from his lips. With no further ado, he steps between the ropes, ready to go to war once again. At ringside, Tori drops her headset to the table and walks towards his corner, taking the spot his estranged wife should be manning as he nods in recognition to her.

Amelia Williams: This is an Alpha Division contest scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, joined at ringside by Tori Montgomery, from the End of Nowhere, weighing 337 pounds...this is The Phoenix!

Bob Sinclair: Now the question becomes just how focused Phoenix will be in this match given what just happened backstage. Knowing him, his mind is definitely elsewhere at the moment.

"Don't Cha" hits the arena to a mixed reaction as The League's lone female member emerges from backstage. There is a confident smirk on her face as she talks trash with some of the louder fans before sprinting into the ring by diving under the bottom rope. As she stands, hoisting a title belt in the air, she proceeds to the corner nearest the announce table, hands thrown in the air as the soaks in the crowd reaction while her manager stands outside, also applauding her client.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, accompanied to the ring by Jayde, from Aberdeen, Scotland, weighing 137 pounds, she is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions...Diamond!

Bob Sinclair: This match has some serious implications; the winner of this match is likely to leave Toronto with the Alpha Division lead!

ALPHA DIVISION: Thor Hammerskald (4-4, 21%) vs. Sebastian Moore (2-6, 18%)

It is to Muse's "Assassin" that he emerges, an arrogant smirk crossing his face as he soaks in the jeers of the crowd. Looking up at the spotlight for a moment, his smirk seems to get even bigger as he walks down the ramp, ignoring the catcalls of the crowd as he ascends the steps, wipes his feet on the apron, and steps through the ropes, looking more at ease than the casual fan may think.

Amelia Williams: This is an Alpha Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Manchester, England, weighing 237 pounds...Sebastian Moore!

Bob Sinclair: Moore is also without a tag team partner next week, and seems content to let the luck of the draw decide his partner.

Tori Montgomery: Moore hasn't shown much interest in the past about the tag tournament, I don't see him caring who is partner is, as long as he gets to wrestle.

Amon Amarth's "Death in Fire" hits the speakers, to a decent ovation he emerges from backstage, looking every bit the part of a Viking warrior as he strides to the ring with a determined look on his face...and scattering some of the fans away from the entrance ramp as he turns to glare at them. Behind him, his manager/League color commentator can be see giving him encouragement as the Viking enters the confines of the squared circle.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, being accompanied to the ring by Frankie Garnett, from Oslo, Norway, weighing 310 pounds...Thor Hammerskald!

Bob Sinclair: Thor and Sean will be renewing their team from last season, and some might think them a heavy favorite to win it all this season.

OMEGA DIVISION: Johnny Triumph (6-2, 21%) vs. Sean (4-4, 20%)

Motley Crue's "Kickstart My Heart" hits the arena speakers as a spotlight shines down on the top of the ramp. Emerging from the back, the former League Champion walks out as he throws a hand into the air, causing pyro to erupt from behind him in a manner of paparazzi photographing him. With a smirk, the champ heads to the ring, the spotlight remaining on him the whole time.

Amelia Williams: This is an Omega Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, now residing in Los Angeles, California, weighing 230 pounds..."Hollywood" Sean!

Bob Sinclair: Sean looking for a win here in this matchup of former League Champions.

A remixed version of "Ecstasy of Gold" hits the speakers, which is nearly drowned out in jeers as he emerges from the entryway. Instead of taking the steps closest to him, he walks around to the opposite side of the ring, drawing in more jeers as he finally climbs the steps and enters the ring.

The Drawing of the Three (Teams)

We cut to backstage, and the desk of Commissioner Colt Marshall.

Colt Marshall: Good evening, fans of The League. This is the first of two announcements I will be making this evening, both of which involve Tag Team Turmoil. As of this moment, there are six members of The League who are not assigned to teams for the event next week. A random draw was just completed here in my office, and it is now time to formally announce the remaining three teams for next week's tournament.

The first team features the current League Champion, Robbie Maynard, teaming with former champion Johnny Triumph.

The second team features a pair of men with mixed martial arts backgrounds: Sebastian Moore and "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens.

The final pair, by process of elimination, are former TTT champ Tarik Nolan and fan favorite Pizza Mask III.

The brackets will be announced prior to tonight's main event. We now return you to your regularly scheduled matches.

Bob Sinclair: Tori, some of these draws have the potential to be huge!

Tori Montgomery: The Triumph/Maynard draw definitely sounds big, but I'm more interested in the PM3/Tarik draw. That has the makings of a team motivated by revenge!

Frankie Garnett: And that's the best kind!

Tori Montgomery: Dammit, I forgot he was coming back here.

Bob Sinclair: That does tend to happen, Tori.

ALPHA DIVISION: Maxx Skabb (4-4, 22%) vs. Nuclear Templeton (5-3, 18%)

Billy Idol's "Shock to the System" hits the speakers, bringing the crowd to their feet in ovation as one of the League's more recognizable faces emerges from backstage and across the green-tinted stage. As he hits the end of the entrance ramp, he throws his arms into the air, sending a pair of mushroom clouds into the air from the stage as he makes his way to the ring and through the ropes.

Amelia Williams: This bout is an Alpha Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, from Atlantic City, New Jersey, weighing 278 pounds...Nuclear Templeton!

Bob Sinclair: Now that it is confirmed that Templeton will be working with Phoenix next week, how do you like his chances tonight with that worry off his mind?

Tori Montgomery: It's still going to be a fight, Bob. His opponent tonight is no pushover.

Frankie Garnett: Are we watching the same show, Tori?

Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" blares throughout the arena as spotlights begin to pan over the audience, as if looking for someone. A dim red light shines on the entryway, revealing a hulking figure making his way to ringside, with two more men hiding just at the fringes of the spotlight, their eyes never leaving the form of the big man. As the refrain hits, the spotlights immediately focus on him as white strobe lights flash on the entrance stage. He slides under the bottom rope, his orange jumpsuit a stark contrast to most of the clothing in the audience--as if the gold belt really fits in--as the song fades into silence.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from the Orange County Correctional Facility, weighing 289 pounds, he is one-half of the reigning Tag Team Turmoil champions...Maxx Skabb!

Bob Sinclair: This may very well be the last time we see Maxx with that particular title belt.

Frankie Garnett: You might have a point....

ALPHA DIVISION: Eidenhoek Gaiaspade (4-4, 20%) vs. Scott Stevens (4-4, 24%)

Disturbed's "Indestructible" hits the arena as one of this season's rookies emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease despite the hard beat of the song. Jumping onto the apron from the floor, he steps between the ropes and calmly waits for the bell to get the match underway.

Amelia Williams: (opening), from the Island of Tria, weighing 205 pounds...Eidenhoek Gaiaspade!

Bob Sinclair: Gaius has been a bit of a surprise this season, showing a bit more tenacity than we've come to expect.

Tori Montgomery: Hopefully he and his partner will do better than they did last season, and given the way their seasons have gone it's entirely possible!

Frankie Garnett: Or they'll just get bounced in ten minutes, same difference.

The lights in the arena go pitch black, as red lasers and spotlights light up the area. The video screen lights up and flashes across the screen, "Nothing survives my sting!" The crowd starts booing as Dave Mustaine's voice echoes throughout the arena, "I am the Scorpion, whoa!" The jeering intensifies as a mash-up of "I Stand Alone" and "Amazing" hits the speakers, drawing out the reigning Legacy Pro Wrestling champion, complete with belt around the waist. Walking down the aisle, he talks trash the entire way while pointing at the LPW title around his waist. As he finally gets to the ring, he climbs the nearest turnbuckle and stares down his opponent, an icy glare and the throat slash gesture his only actions as he drops to the mat.

Amelia Williams: (opening), from Houston, Texas, weighing 256 pounds...The Master of Disaster, The King of Sting, The Venomous One and Only, and the reigning Legacy Pro Wrestling Heavyweight Champion... he is "The Scorpion" Scott Stevens!

Bob Sinclair: With Stevens getting paired with Moore, how do you see their chances, Frankie?

The Tag Team Turmoil Brackets

Once more, we cut to backstage and the Commissioner's Office.

Colt Marshall: Before we get to our next match of the night, it is time to announce the pairings for the first night of The League's two-night Tag Team Turmoil event.

Like last season, there will be two matches designed to whittle the field down to eight teams. These preliminary round matches will feature the team of Super Century and Master Imoka face the team of Jack Lightning and Eidenhoek Gaiaspade, with the other pairing in this round featuring Robbie Maynard and Johnny Triumph take on the team of Nuclear Templeton and The Phoenix.

In the quarterfinal round, The Axis of Flavor will face the team of Pizza Mask III and Tarik Nolan, while the team of Scott Stevens and Sebastian Moore will face the pairing of Ben Stanton and Ian Carlisle. The defending Tag Team Turmoil champions, Vicious & Delicious, and the team of Thor Hammerskald and Sean, will both face one of the teams that wins their opening round match. The pairings will then proceed like a standard tournament.

I hope that you will tune in next week, as this event promises to be one of the best in League history.

OMEGA DIVISION: Tarik Nolan (4-4, 31%) vs. Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr. (2-6, 15%)

"Here Comes the Money" hits the speakers, as one of this season's rookies emerges from the back, with a beautiful woman hanging off his left arm. He pays no attention to the jeering fans, his attitude simply screaming "I'm better than you."

Amelia Williams: Our next bout is an Omega Division bout scheduled for one fall! Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Missy Callistra, from Providence, Rhode Island, weighing 224 pounds...Benjamin T. Stanton, Jr.!

Bob Sinclair: Stanton could be looking for a major upset here, if he can get past the Louisiana Nightmare.

Frankie Garnett: "Louisiana Nightmare?" Who the hell came up with that?

Tori Montgomery: I think it fits, honestly.

"Regulate" hits the speakers, immediately drawing the ire of the crowd as a large figure stands in the entryway, backlit by a clear spotlight. Pyro explodes on the stage, causing the light to shut off as the figure finally emerges onto the stage proper. Laughing at the boos hurled in his direction, he takes his time walking to the ring and subsequently entering it for his next match.

Amelia Williams: (open) from Shreveport, Louisiana, weighing 292 pounds...Tarik Nolan!

ALPHA DIVISION: Jack Lightning (3-5, 28%) vs. Pizza Mask III (3-5, 20%)

The theme to Samurai Pizza Cats plays as a van painted red with the words "Pizza Wagon" on the side comes down to ringside. Emerging from the van, the former backyard wrestler is seen in his trademark Pizza Hut uniform and new tights that resemble a cheese pizza on the left side, and a shot of PM3 bashing the Noid in the face with a chair. Reaching into the van to pull out a Pain Pizza, he hands it off to one lucky fan at ringside before hopping over the top rope and entering the ring to the cheers of the fans in attendance.

Amelia Williams: This is our main event of the evening, scheduled for one fall in the Alpha Division! Introducing first, from Your Friendly Neighborhood Pizzeria, weighing 199 pounds...Pizza Mask III!

Bob Sinclair: PM3 had his hopes shot down earlier by Phoenix, but gets the next best thing in Phoenix's tag partner the last two seasons.

Tori Montgomery: Nolan is also a former TTT champion, so I think PM3 is in good hands there.

Frankie Garnett: Nolan? Did you just see him lose, Tori? The kid has no chance!

Metallica's "Ride the Lightning" hits the speakers as the first Canadian to enter The League emerges from the back, looking surprisingly at ease as he steps onto the ring apron and leaps over the top rope. Climbing onto the turnbuckles, he raises an arm in the air and drinks in the cheers of the almost-hometown crowd before dropping back to the mat and preparing for his match.

Amelia Williams: His opponent, from London, Ontario, weighing 233 pounds...Jack Lightning!

Bob Sinclair: Lightning seems right at home here, and he should be! This crowd is solidly behind him!

Tori Montgomery: He's looking to obviously feed off their energy tonight!

Frankie Garnett: Speaking of Lightning, is it too much to ask for these two to hurry up tonight? I just got my copy of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and I'd like to get some time in on it before we fly out tonight....

Tori Montgomery: Good grief!
